Rage Against The Routine

Yay Free Money

October 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 “baby bond” from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.

Clinton, her party’s front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus.

“I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home,” she said.

If $5,000 of free money is good, why not make it a million? When you don’t understand economics, it’s easy to be generous!

UPDATE: Isn’t this also discriminatory to gays? They don’t exactly have a lot of children.

Yea, that is a great idea. To pay for it we could reduce their monthly welfare checks.

I have a better idea. Those rugrats could get a job when they turn 18, but sadly personal responsibility is NOT endorsed by the democratic party.

Or instead of a 5k bond we could give the children of the US a financial future they can look forward too without being sadled with the current generations’ debt load. I am not a gold freak but this chart is pessimistic and something every American should be aware of.

Please read and understand our financial future.

It’s okay, because the people who will end up paying that debt are the exact same children we’re going to give $5000 to. :)

I believe the children are the future. They’d better be, because they’ll be footing the bills.
