I guess I’m also going to use this blog to record results of my Sunday poker games, because why not? I used to keep a spreadsheet with wins and losses but it was kind of anal, so I’ll just casually record here what happens each week for shits and giggles.

The Sunday game at my place draws anywhere from ten to fifteen people, sometimes more. We usually play a couple hours of ring games of dealer’s choice, including whatever crazy wildcard games someone wants to play, then a tournament, usually straight Hold ‘Em. There’s an ongoing points tournament, but I’ll describe that in a later post.

This week I got killed in the ring game, especially one hand of Drunken Irish two tier high only split. Drunken Irish is an Omaha variant, but you end up with only two cards, both of which you must play. Two tier high only split means there are two boards (flop, turn, river) and the high hand on each wins half the pot. I ended up with Jd-10d with flops of Kd-Qd-4d and Jh-Js-rag. So, I have an almost nut flush on one flop with two outs for a straight flush, and a set of jacks on the other with a decent kicker. All in, several callers, and I lose it all to Z-man holding an Ad-9d flush (notice he had BOTH of my straight flush outs) and Dusty’s jack king. Lost $47 in the ring games, dropping more than $30 on that single hand.

I made up for it in the tournament, 12 players and I came in second for $74, a $54 profit after the $20 entry.
